The political emancipation of Picuí represents a historic milestone in the development of the Picuí people’s identity. Officially elevated to the status of municipality on March 9, 1902, Picuí gained administrative autonomy, strengthening its roots and paving the way for social, economic, and cultural development.
Since then, the city has stood out as an important regional hub in the Seridó region of Paraíba, preserving its traditions, its history, and the pride of a hardworking people who, day after day, build the future of their land.
